I’m Cat Sikora, and I am a high school teacher presently on maternity leave. I live with my husband, my 9-month-old daughter, and our pug cross.
I love spending time with my little family. I also enjoy travelling, cooking, and the Gold Coast lifestyle.
When Did You Get Your Home, and Why Did You Decide to Redo the Flooring?
We bought the Palm Beach duplex in 2016 and had tenants while we lived in Sydney. We decided to move to the GC move in and do a renovation. We needed a waterproof floor, scratch proof and stylish looking that suited the clean, coastal style of the unit at a reasonable price.
We began the reno with the flooring, and the folks at Online Flooring Store were incredibly helpful. They helped with selection and colour, making our other choices for décor easier. They even helped find a plush cozy carpet for the bedroom flooring that is the perfect colour at a reasonable price.
How Do You Spend a Typical Week?
Right now, I’m on maternity leave, so I have loads of time inside with my baby, often playing on the floor. It turns out the flooring is baby-proof!

I’d say warm, coastal and some elements of Hamptons style
What’s Your Favourite (and Less Favourite) Home Activity?
My favourite would be cooking, but not the mid-week dinners. I enjoy the fun cooking of entertaining meals or baking. My least favourite task is cleaning bathroom tiles.
What’s Something in Your House You Could Not Live Without?
This makes me sound very boring, but my Dyson stick vac. Oh, and the coffee machine.
What is Your Favourite Space in Your House and Why?
Our bedroom is my favourite. My husband and I extended it and gave it high ceilings and a huge walk-through WIR. I love hanging out there all the time.
What Are Your Top Three Tips for Someone Just Getting Started on a Reno?
- Pick a design aesthetic and stick to it.
- Pick durable flooring, so you don’t spend time stressing about your family/animals ruining it.
- Always keep good tabs on your budget – check in regularly!
What is Your Favourite Family Activity?
Sitting by the creek nearby in the afternoons.
